A Little History Behind Sessoms Jewelry
A Love & A Legacy
For over 50 years, Sessoms Jewelry has served Clinton and the surrounding areas. Growing and prospering with our community. So, how did we get here?
Founder, Minson Sessoms had a knack for figuring things out, and it all started at a young 10 years old. He disassembled a Timex watch just to "see how it worked." The love for tinkering ended up being the foundation of his legacy and the start of something that would continue for years to come.
In 1967, Mr. Sessoms founded Sessoms Jewelry. He worked from his attic, repairing clocks and watches. Eventually, with his self-taught skills and determination, Mr. Sessoms and his wife, Lucille, opened an actual storefront in the Jordan Shopping Center.
He was a staple citizen, volunteer, supporter of the community, a charter member of the Clinton-Sampson Rescue and EMS, and just a jack-of-all-trades.
About 8 years after opening the first location, Mr. & Mrs. Sessoms relocated to downtown Clinton, where it has been for more than 45 years.
Such a successful business needs someone to help keep it running. Their daughter, Deborah, married Gary Wayne Hall, whom went to school for jewelry and watch repair. GW, as the community, and his peers call him, is a certified watchmaker, can appraise, repair, and help design jewelry, thus continuing what Mr. Sessoms started.
The Sessoms Jewelry legacy is still thriving in downtown Clinton, providing the community with its' top-notch services and merchandise, and will continue to do so for years to come.
Mr. Sessoms created a staple in our then-small community. The business has grown over the years, just like our little town. We know that he would be proud to see the growth and change that has taken place.
